FriendshiWeek

This year we celebrated Friendship Week between 10th-14th November.

The theme this year is

'Power for Good'

On Monday we had Odd Socks Day!

We asked all children and staff to wear odd socks to school.

Odd Socks Day is about understanding that everyone is different and unique and that everyone is EQUAL.

Throughout the week every class will be taking part in different activities in their PSHE lessons.

     Central Library

On Wednesday 22nd October year 5 went on a visit to Central Library in Manchester.

We were lucky enough to have a tour around all the library and look at all the different floors and what

they are used for. We even found an old fossil that was in one of the floor tiles.

We then went to do a workshop linked to our Space Topic in school where we had to make a

space shuttle land safely.

During our visit we had the pleasure of meeting the Lord Mayor of Manchester who talked to the

children about his job.

Art Project at Manchester Art Gallery

Some children in Year 5 have been lucky enough to take part in an art project run by Manchester Art Gallery.

They get to work alongside an artist to produce different art works.

This week they worked with two artists, Sam and Chris.

The focus was to look at a piece of art from an artist called Martin Creed.

The artwork is a sculpture of a scrunched up piece of paper.

The children had to think about what might have been on the paper before it was scrunched up.

They each produced their own piece of art that they thought might have been inside the ball of paper.

Article 29: Education must develop a child's personality, talents and abilities.

This year the children will be starting a new spelling programme called Ready Steady Spell.

Below is a guide to help you support your child at home with their spelling.
