A very warm welcome back to all of our Year 3 pupils and families as we begin the Summer Term! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break and are ready for another exciting term of learning, discovery, and fun.
This term, Year 3 will be exploring new topics across the curriculum, developing confidence in their skills, and taking part in lots of creative and engaging activities. PE is continuing on Thursdays with Taekwondo on Tuesdays.
We can’t wait to make this Summer Term a fantastic one together!
Article 17 – Access to Information
Children have the right to access reliable information from different sources, including digital media.
Year 3 digital ambassadors assembly
Our 3 pupils from year 3 was given the important role of being digital ambassadors for our school, it is there job to remind us and help us to stay safe online. They are currently on a journey to receive a special badge, part of this required them to deliver an assembly about cyberbullying so they can make an impact in school and help remind everyone of what they should do if they are experiencing such a thing.
Article 31 – Leisure, Play and Culture
Children have the right to relax, play and take part in cultural and creative activities.
Trip to Bolton Museum
Year 3 went to see all the ancient Egyptian artefacts that were brought over to the uk 100's of years ago, even saw the mummies and learned all about the mummification process. We then had lunch which ofcourse everybody enjoyed. The highlight of our day was the aquarium full of cat fish and fish that we had never seen before. We ended the day trying on some costumes and walking around the main hall.
Article 29 – Goals of Education
Education should help children develop their talents, understanding of the world, and respect for different cultures and civilizations.
Ancient Egypt day
Of course year 3 had to start the first day back doing a special ancient Egyptian emersion day. Everyone got to make special paper the Egyptians used to make called Papyrus, we then let it dry out over lunch. We also got to dress up as Egyptians and create our own unique necklaces. Mr Kameel came dressed as a Pharaoh to bring the historical day to life, It was safe to say that we definitely were in a different place in time.

Children have the right to a clean and safe environment to help them stay healthy.
Caring for our world day
Our school dedicated a special day to thinking about our world and how we can look after it. Every class delivered a special activity surrounding this topic as the children rotated around the school in mix age groups so the day felt extra rare. Year 3 teaching staff delivered a lesson around creating a eco friendly lunch by discussing and organising items that would be reusable like glass containers and non reusable like plastic wrappers. The children had fun sorting out the items as it got them thinking on their feet.
Raising money for a special charity
The school had a fantastic time taking part in a fundraiser for the READ Foundation, a charity that helps provide education for orphaned and disadvantaged children. The event was full of fun activities, including a bean bag toss, a basketball hoop challenge, and a football shoot, which everyone enjoyed. The children also had the chance to decorate and buy biscuits, which was a big hit! It was a wonderful way to come together, have fun, and support such an important cause.
Eid Party
Year 3 had a wonderful time celebrating our Eid party! The children looked absolutely beautiful in their traditional and colourful outfits, making the day feel extra special. There were lots of fun activities, including musical statues, exciting dance battles, and even a “Best Dancer” award which everyone enjoyed competing for. In the afternoon, the class shared some delicious party food together, making it a joyful and wonderful celebration for all.
Article 13 – Freedom of Expression
Children have the right to share ideas, thoughts and creativity through speaking, writing and storytelling.
Author Visit

Nadia Shireen
On Thursday 12th March, we were lucky to welcome author Nadia Shireen to our school. She spoke to the children about the books she has written and shared insights into her work. Nadia also read one of her stories aloud, bringing some of her characters to life for everyone to enjoy. The children then had the opportunity to create their own illustrations, inspired by her style, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Word book day
Year 3 had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! The day began with the children decorating their own T-shirts, each choosing a character theme from a story they love. They took part in a range of fun, book-themed activities throughout the day and even joined a live online assembly with Blue Peter, which was very exciting. We also made our healthy biscuits inspired by Alien in Jam factory. To finish off the celebration, the children proudly took part in a parade in the hall, showing off their creative T-shirts to everyone. It was a fun and memorable day that celebrated their love of reading.
Break dancing
Today the children in Key stage 2 had the chance to take part in some breakdancing led by a professional dancer, they began by doing some warm up moves. They experimented their abilities and turned them into unique dance moves which they displayed in a dance battle at the end of it all. The final showdown was something else.

Year 3/4 Christmas party day
Our Christmas party was full of fun, laughter and festive excitement! Year 3 and Year 4 came together in the hall to enjoy a range of party games, including musical statues and pass the parcel, before having a brilliant dance together. The hall was filled with music and smiles as everyone joined in. We then returned to our classrooms to enjoy some delicious food and continue the celebrations with more dancing and some fantastic performances. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas together and created lots of happy memories for everyone involved.
Christingle Celebration
During our Christingle assembly, our school came together to celebrate this special tradition and learn about the meaning behind it. We explored what a Christingle is and discussed how each part symbolises important messages, especially the candle, which we lit to represent light, hope and love in the world. The atmosphere was calm and reflective as we shared this moment together. The assembly ended on a joyful note, with every class performing their own Christmas song for the rest of the school, filling the hall with festive cheer and creating a wonderful sense of togetherness.
Christmas switch on

Everyone in the school had the chance to put on their baubles so that the Christmas tree was beautifully decorated. Everyone then came together in the hall to watch the Christmas lights switch on the tree, it was a lovely time to reflect and gaze upon the light that spread across our school. Miss Jones had the privilege of turning the lights on!
International peace day
Year 3 had a fantastic time celebrating International Peace Day! We learned all about how we can support others around the world through different charities and talked about why it’s important to help people in need. We also explored children’s rights and played a fun Rights Bingo game to help us remember them.
At lunchtime, we joined Mr. Kameel for a special Peace Run, where everyone showed great teamwork and kindness. Later, our parents came into school to decorate a stone for us. We will place these stones in the Peace Garden to remind us of the importance of peace and caring for others.
It was a wonderful day full of learning, fun, and togetherness!

Taekwondo

Year 3 are doing Taekwondo this year, I have to say they absolutely love every minute of it, it's their chance to learn self defence, discipline, new skills while getting fit along the way. We have amazing taekwondo kits for all of them to wear which really gets them into the art and feel of the martial art, by the end of this year they will have mastered white belt and achieve a yellow belt!

Year 3 drumming 
This year, we are very lucky to have an amazing African drumming teacher come in to teach our class how to play the African drums, we have been so grateful to take part each week, learning new ways to play to the beat. Hopefully, when year 3 are confident enough, they will put on a drumming show for the rest of the school.

Take over day!
Today was a special day for the whole school where everyone got the chance to teach a lesson of their own. A couple of the year 6's were chosen for head teacher and deputy, and our lovely year 3's taught their class music, PE and art. The children became responsible for planning their sessions and delivering them, they worked as a team to make these lessons come to life and inspire others to do the same.
