Taekwondo
Thursday 24th June 2021
Today we were lucky enough to have some Taekwondo lessons.
Jason said that everyone in year 3 did really well.
During Science Week, year 3 were doing their learning from home. Mr McNulty demonstrated some of the experiments that came up in their class discussion of things they wanted to find out.
Lots of the children tried doing the experiments themselves at home.
When we returned to school, we tried out the experiments together.
We looked at what would happen when we added bicarbonate of soda to vinegar.
This created a gas that was able to blow up a glove that had been attached to the bottle.
We even managed to make an egg float in water when we added salt to it.
The final experiment we did was to find out what would happen to an egg if we left it in vinegar.
As part of of science, we are looking how caterpillars change into butterflies.

Author Visit
Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from Simon Hunt the author of the book
'Delilah Rose the Bogey Princess.'
He read his book to the class and we all thought it was extremely funny. He even did funny voices.
Mr Hunt talked to the children and explained that he was a teacher in a school in Bury and it was his students that encouraged him to write a book. He was always telling them that they could be authors and they said he should write a book. He took up the challenge and came up with the idea as his daughter is called Delilah Rose. The children in his class have had an input and helped him choose the cover for his book.
He is now writing his second book about his son Hugo.
He asked the children in class to give him some ideas that he could use in his new book. Year 3 came up with lots of great ideas. We look forward to reading his book when it is published.

Thursday 8th October was Clean Air Day.
The council gave us permission to shut the road directly outside of school for the start and end of the school day. This helped to reduce the amount of pollution caused by cars around the school and also made it safer for the children entering and leaving the school gates.
We went outside with banners and posters the children had made to help raise awareness of pollution and how making small changes will help to improve our environment.
